Another Death in ICE Detention
ICE announced that a "[c]riminal alien from El Salvador die[d] in ICE custody in Georgia." In a story on the death, ImmigrationProf blogger Austin Kocher is attributed as saying "that this year, there have been an average of one death every 10 days in the custody of ICE. That figure includes people dying in detention centers or in nearby hospitals while still in the custody of ICE."
“Even in the past, there has not been such an overt dehumanization and overt view that migrants’ lives are expendable,” Kocher added. “I worry that that tone [from the Trump administration] has a tendency towards neglect and viewing migrants as disposable.”
