Associated Press: "Man who threw sandwich at federal agent in Washington is found not guilty of assault charge"
The Associated Press reports that a fired Justice Department employee who threw a sandwich at a immigration enforcement officer in Washington, D.C. was found not guilty of misdemeanor assault yesterday.
"A viral video of the sandwich tossing made Sean Charles Dunn a symbol of resistance to Trump’s deployment of federal agents to combat crime in the nation’s capital."
His misdemeanor acquittal is another setback for prosecutors. The Justice Department had initially sought a felony assault indictment, but a grand jury declined to issue the felony charge. The U.S. Attorney then charged Dunn with a misdemeanor for throwing the sandwich.
