CBS: More Restrictive Asylum Processing Coming

CBS has some troubling news about new plans to deny asylum applications without a hearing.

The news outlet apparently got their hands on "internal documents" that I've yet to find online. These would allow USCIS' asylum officers to reject affirmative asylum applications subject to the one-year bar without interviewing the applicants about potential exceptions to that bar. Such applicants would, instead, be placed straight into removal proceedings.

A USCIS spokesperson told CBS: "This would allow USCIS to avoid wasting time on asylum applications that it would otherwise refer to immigration proceedings and will allow illegal aliens to have their claims heard by a judge."
