CNN: Inside the Trump administration’s unprecedented purge of immigration judges
Priscilla Alvarez for CNN in "Inside the Trump administration’s unprecedented purge of immigration judges" looks at the changes seen in the corps of immigration judges. "Since Trump took office [in January 2025], 139 immigration judges have been fired, taken an early-out offer, or been involuntarily transferred, according to data provided by the National Association of Immigration Judges. September had the highest number of terminations, with 24 people dismissed. According to the Justice Department, there are more than 600 immigration judges located in 72 immigration courts nationwide."
In September, the podcast This American Life talked with immigration judges, who describe the dismantling of the immigration court system.
