Deportation Push by South Africa
While the United States has been accepting white refugees from South Africa, the nation of South Africa has been busy deporting black migrants from its territory. PBS reports that more than 53,000 migrants have been deported in the last month. Most (more than 80%) hail from Malawi--a country that's northeast of South Africa, with the remaining 20% coming from a host of other African nations.
South Africa's move to ramp up deportations came after protests from anti-immigrant groups "claiming, without evidence, that immigrants were contributing to South Africa's high unemployment rate and problems with crime."
