The AALS Immigration Section Executive Committee invites works-in-progress and incubator submissions related to immigration law for the next AALS Annual Meeting, which will take place from January 5-8, 2027 in New York, NY. The WIP/Incubator session is scheduled for Friday, January 8, 2027 from 9:35-10:50am.

Submitting a WIP/Incubator Proposal and/or Serving as a Discussant: If you wish to present your work-in-progress or incubator, please submit your proposal via this Google form by October 15, 2026. For a WIP, please submit an abstract that is approximately 350 words in length. For an incubator, please submit a shorter description, approximately 150 words in length. For those of you interested in serving as a discussant for WIPs/Incubators related to your areas of expertise, please use the same Google form.

The committee will review all submissions to select WIPs and Incubators and assign the appropriate discussants. (We will prioritize new voices for WIPs/incubators, but scholars at all stages are encouraged to participate). The committee will inform selected WIP/Incubator authors and discussants by November 1, 2026. The suggested deadline for WIP/Incubator drafts will be December 1, but may also be determined by the assigned discussants in conversation with the WIP/Incubator authors.
