Haitian immigration to the United States has grown sharply in recent decades, amid a series of profound challenges in Haiti.

• The Haitian immigrant population has grown faster than the overall foreign-born population, reaching nearly 859,000 people in 2024, or 2 percent of all U.S. immigrants.
• Two-thirds of Haitian immigrants lived in Florida or New York as of the 2020–24 period; the Miami metro area alone was home to nearly one-third of the total Haitian population.
• Haitian immigrants are disproportionately employed in health care, including as home health aides and nursing assistants.
• The end of a humanitarian parole program and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian immigrants has raised questions about the future for many."
