Olympic Immigration Dancing on Ice: Christina Carreira, Vadym Kolesnik

Christina Carreira is skating for the United States with her longtime ice dance partner Anthony Ponomarenko. Born in Montreal, Carreira only became a U.S. citizen in November!

“The process of becoming an American was pretty tough, and it took forever,” Carreira says. “It was very, very stressful.”

Vadym Kolesnik is another newly American ice dancer. Kolesnik, originally from the Ukraine, lived in the United States for 10 years prior to gaining U.S. citizenship in August 2025. He'll be competing for the United States with his dance partner Emilea Zingas.
