Salt Lake City Couple Face Charges For Assisting Noncitizen in Flight from ICE
Back in October, a noncitizen fled the scene of a Salt Lake City ICE enforcement action in handcuffs. He asked a nearby couple for help. They drove him away from the scene, purchased bolt cutters, and set the gentleman free. They also posted about it on social media.

The couple is now facing misdemeanor charges. They have each been charged, federally, with one misdemeanor count of "theft, conversion and disposal of government property and aiding and abetting." That government property? The handcuffs. Reportedly, U.S. authorities aren't "seeking to detain" the couple, "but spell out several conditions for their release ... Among other things, they aren't to interfere with other attempts by federal officials to detain immigrants suspected of being in the country illegally."
