Somos Más: Introducing the ICE Out of LA Podcast
Somos Más! We are stronger than the systems that try to silence us, and more united than ever before. This podcast is grounded in the truth we live every day: Solo el Pueblo Salva el Pueblo – Only the People Can Save the People. Tune in to stay informed, inspired, and connected to the movement reshaping LA from the ground up. In our first episode, we sit down with Luna Vega, longtime SELA organizer and musician. We talk about the roots of organizing in Southeast LA and the community’s powerful history of resilience. Highlights include: • The 2019 campaign in Huntington Park, where residents organized to denounce Police Chief Cosme Lozano for collaborating with ICE in violation of California State Law. • The federal lawsuit that followed, resulting in a $74,000 settlement and a 2025 city ordinance further barring city government collaboration with ICE. • The highly visible ICE raids in SELA in summer 2025, which targeted heavily Latino neighborhoods, and the incredible way everyday people came together to denounce violence and human rights abuses. |
This episode and future conversations bring forward the stories that are often silenced, highlight community resistance, and show the real power of solidarity. You’ll hear firsthand from people on the ground in LA who are organizing and defending their neighbors, fighting injustice, and building a city where everyone belongs. |
