Team USA athletes at the 2026 Winter Olympics who grew up abroad

With a thrilling overtime win for the gold medal by the U.S. men's hockey team over Canada on the last day, the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina yesterday came to a close.

Several Teams USA competitors carried an international past with them. "They speak different languages, trained under different styles, and grew up with different sporting traditions. Yet they now share the same flag and the same goal." Check here for a list of Team USA athletes at the 2026 Winter Olympics who grew up abroad.

Some athletes with ties to the United States, such as Eileen Gu who attends Stanford, medaled in the Olympics for their native countries. Vice President JD Vance spoke disparagingly of Gu's competition under the Chinese flag.
