Trumps' Friend Asks ICE to Help in Divorce

It is sad but not much immigration news is shocking anymore. President Donald Trump and Melania Trump’s friend asked ICE to detain the mother of his teenage soon, The New York Times reported.

Paolo Zampolli, former modeling agent turned presidential special envoy, reached out to a top official at Immigration and Customs Enforcement to get the mother of his child, who he alleged was not in the country legally, detained as the pair were engaged in a child custody dispute. His Brazilian model ex-wife was in jail on charges of workplace fraud. Zampolli apparently saw her detention as a way to help him in the custody fight.

ICE official David Venturella called the agency’s Miami office to arrange for ICE agents to pick up Zampolli’s ex. According to the Times, Venturella noted that the case was important to someone close to the White House during the call.

The ex, Amanda Ungaro, was placed in ICE custody and later deported.
