UCLA Center for Immigration Law and Policy Brings Together Media, Community Leaders to LA Immigration Raids
Yesterday, the Center for Immigration Law and Policy (CILP) hosted a discussion focused on the immigration raids in Los Angeles and the lessons learned from the collective response to those actions.
The event marked six months of immigration raids in Greater Los Angeles, a region where immigrants comprise more than a third of the population.
A video of the livestream is available HERE.
The conversation included Mayra Joachín, Immigrants’ Rights Project Deputy Director at the ACLU of Southern California; Carlos Amador, Economic Justice Manager at CLEAN Carwash Worker Center; and Jacob Soboroff, Senior Political and National Correspondent at MSNBC. This event was moderated by Hiroshi Motomura, Susan Westerberg Prager Distinguished Professor of Law and Faculty Co-Director at the Center for Immigration Law and Policy at UCLA School of Law. The discussion examined strategies that worked, and what other cities and states may consider going forward in an unprecedented era of immigration enforcement.
