US Deports Afghans & Cubans to Guyana
The United States has deported six individuals from Afghanistan and Cuba to the South American nation of Guyana. Guyana’s Foreign Secretary told reporters that none of the six had criminal records, only immigration issues. Guyana will "host" the six for a year. They will not be permanently resettled in the country. As NBC reports:
Those relocated to Guyana under the Assisted Voluntary Return Program will await the outcome of their immigration status determination while in Guyana. They could ultimately return to their country of origin or be relocated somewhere else.
