In May, they released this report about illegal entry as well as this report about alien smuggling. Both have data regarding FY2025. These are helpful because the Bureau of Justice Statistics hasn't yet released its "Federal Justice Statistics" for FY2024, much less FY2025.

  • 66,662 cases reported to the Commission in fiscal year 2025, 22,743 involved immigration offenses. I'll do the math for you – that's a smidge over 34% of all criminal cases for FY 2025.
  • 99% of those sentenced for illegal reentry were Hispanic; 82% of those sentenced for alien smuggling were Hispanic.
  • 49% of those sentenced for illegal reentry had little or no prior criminal history. 71% of those sentenced for alien smuggling had little or no prior criminal history.
