As Kit Johnson has blogged, Australia appears to have the same kind of immigration politics as seen in the United States. Peter Hobson for Reuters reports that "[a] crackdown on immigration could cause labour shortages across the agricultural sector and threaten the upcoming wheat harvest, Australian farm groups said, joining a slew of business groups warning that tighter migration rules could hit the economy." I think that I have heard that before.
